Does Rogaine Work Better With Propecia? Yes, Usually!

Given only Propecia and Rogaine are proven hair loss treatments, you may ask yourself does Rogaine work better with Propecia? And if so, why?

The answer is: usually, a person will have better results using both Propecia and Rogaine in tandem than using either treatment alone.

I will now tell you why this is so…

Propecia is a treatment which blocks DHT by inhibiting the 5-alpha reductase enzyme which converts testosterone to DHT. The result of less DHT in the scalp is less miniaturisation of the hair follicles and ultimately, a slowing, stoppage or partial reversal of hair loss.

Rogaine works by an entirely different mechanism. It does not block DHT. Instead, Rogaine works by stimulating the hair follicles into producing area game. Nobody is entirely sure why or how this works — even the creators of Rogaine — but we know that it does work and the works well.

It is usually the case that many people who begins a battle against hair loss are hesitant or wary of taking Propecia pills — usually because they just do not like the idea of swallowing a pill, or they are scared of side-effects. Rogaine then, is usually the first port of call.

While Rogaine is perfectly capable of working very well on its own for some people, you must realise that DHT is still active in the scalp and constantly trying to miniaturise the hair that Rogaine is trying to enlarge.

On the other hand, while Propecia is very adept at reversing even severely miniaturised hair follicles it has no stimulating properties whatsoever. And, the extra ‘kick’ is just what is needed to bring about tremendous results instead of minimal results.

I hope I have explained then, why blocking DHT with Propecia and then using Rogaine to stimulate follicles usually yields better results.
