RU 58841 Mystery Hair Loss Wonder Drug: Whatever Happened To It?
The story of RU 58841 is a rather mysterious one, and one which I came across while I was searching for a cure for my balding problem. Rumour had it that this powerful new hair loss drug held enormous promise because not only was it a topical anti-androgen and could circumvent potential side effects of oral anti-androgens such as Propecia, but, early clinical trials showed it to be extremely effective at re-growing hair. All roads led to a dead end. Apparently, the company who held the rights to it, never — for reasons unknown — pushed through with it. RU 58841, the drug that so many had been waiting and praying for, never came to be… with only a few test animals seeing any benefit from it.
This is where the story ends then. Well, not quite. It seems that somehow, and somewhere, people have been able to obtain or manufacture themselves out of sheer desperation RU 58841 and begin treating themselves. Some of them even frequent hair loss forums.
