Is Male Pattern Hair Loss Inherited From The Mother Or Father?
It’s a commonly held belief that male pattern hair loss is inherited from the mothers side of the family. Like so much of pop science, this simply isn’t true. A person has equal chances of inheriting baldness from either side of the family… and then some.
What I mean by ‘then some’ – although it’s not comforting to hear – is it’s perfectly possible that your father and grandfather have great hair, and that your grandfather on your mothers side has great hair… and you still lose your hair.
Unfortunately, genetics mix and it’s anyone guess as to who will be effected.
There are now genetic tests available to see who is susceptible to hair loss, so if you want a definitive answer before it happens so you know what you are liable to face and have time to prepare counter measures to keep your hair.
I advise you to look into this if you feel your hair loss would blight your life when it happens.
Whatever you decide to do, the worst thing you can do when it comes to your hair loss is leave it too late. Catching and treating it early is great, and knowing beforehand what you are going to be facing and knowing precisely the best plan of action (Propecia, at this time) will save you time and hopefully save your hair.
