Why Propecia And Minoxidil Don’t Retain One Another’s Results
Have you ever wondered, if you were on Propecia or Minoxidil singularly and got results, and decided to change from one to the other, if the results would stay?
It’s something I’ve looked into many times when I first started getting serious about tackling my hair loss problem. I was very hopeful that it would be the case that hair preserved (or re-grown) by either would be kept by the other.
Unfortunately, this simply isn’t the case. I soon learned that Propecia works by blocking DHT, and this is all it does. Minoxidil, on the other hand, works by mechanisms completely unknown – but it is known that it does not block DHT whatsoever. This results in the two not being interchangeable.
I was a little disappointed when I learned of this. But, I soon remembered the flipside which has even greater advantages: if one didn’t work for me too well, then I could try the other… and… even try them both together.
Just a short post to hopefully help and inspire this who wished to have an answer to this question.
