Privacy
More and more, privacy is of concern to people using the internet. We at ImGoingBald.com recognize the importance for privacy of your personal information, and openness about what kind of information we collect when you visit our website and how we safeguard and use it.
Rest assured your personal information is never sold to anyone.
Server Log Files
Our website server has log files like most servers, and certain information is collected and stored in them for our use only. When you visit our website certain information becomes logged on our server log files: Your IP address, ISP (The company you pay for internet access), web browser (Chrome, Mozilla, IE, etc) as well as the time and pages you visited within our site.
Cookies and Web Beacons
Another way we receive information from you is through Cookies, which our site uses. Cookies can be used to store information such as preferences within our website, determining whether you are a new visitor or not and showing you a welcome message or popup once, or even allowing you to stay logged in should you have an account on our website.
Also, cookies are used by third party advertisers on our website (Notably Google AdSense/DART DoubleClick). When these advertisers perform a cookie transfer with you, they receive information such as your IP, ISP, web browser type, and maybe even whether or not you have Flash installed. Information such as this is mostly used for geo-targeting: Showing advertisements based on your location (i.e.: New York restaurants to surfers located in New York).
Google AdSense/DoubleClick DART Cookies
Another way cookies are used through Google AdSense/DoubleClick is to show you advertisements based upon your perceived previous interests. That is, if you visited websites on dog collars which participates in Google AdSense and then viewed a cooking site which also participates in Google AdSense, you may find the cooking site showing advertisements for dog collars. This is done through Interest Based Targeting technology which uses cookies to store and build up a profile of the type of websites you visit and aims to show you advertisements which may interest you even though they may not match the subject of the immediate website you are on.
The aforementioned technology does not however use personally identifiable information. Information which is not tracked or logged at all includes your name, physical address, email address, telephone number, bank or credit card details, social security number, etc.
You can universally opt-out of this DART technology and method of advertisement serving on all websites (including ours) by visiting: http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/dart_adserving.aspx
Alternatively, you can disable cookies using your browser or a third party internet security software package. Deleting cookies without blocking them or opting-out will simply mean another cookie is placed on your computer again the next time you visit a cookie-dispensing website, so if you want to delete the cookies and opt-out, be sure to opt-out or block them before deleting them.
